Birdsongs softly call
My lover from bed to see
How wonders take flight.

Life, a paragraph
Punctuated by laughter,
sorrow, and the wind.

A final gasp drawn.
Silence breaks with new life’s cry.
Each breath--miracle.

Manicured lawns crunch
Under the sweltering heat.
Perceived perfection.

Beside you, I could wander forever,
Sail across the ocean of life to bring dreams ashore.
Beside you, worlds of conversation breathe calmly into the atmosphere,
Landing upon soft hearts and open minds.
Beside you, pride and humility join our pace;
There is comfort in who we are and gratitude for what we have.
Beside you, nearness can be found even in distance.
Adventure brought us together and strengthens us to this day.
My partner, my friend, my lover, my family, my forever,
Beside you, you will find me.

The clocks stopped. Boxes
packed, gone. Chasing the sun home,
I beg it to stay.

Present everyday,
In my heart I find you there.
A safe place called home.

Heat against my back.
Scents flood the air with summer,
Childhood memories.
